Darkspede is an engineering studio at the intersection of spatial computing, AI, and physical infrastructure. We make the built world readable by machines.
"The physical world is already full of data.
We make it readable."
We design and build AR/XR experiences that overlay digital information onto the physical world — from HoloLens enterprise apps to browser-based WebXR with no install required.
From IFC ingestion to live digital twin platforms, we build BIM systems that turn fragmented construction data into unified, queryable assets — accessible from any tool, at any scale.
Custom CV models and 3D reconstruction pipelines — detecting defects in infrastructure, building point-cloud dashboards, enabling machines to see the built world in real time.
Yifeng CHEN is the co-founder and CEO of DARKSPEDE, a Melbourne-based digital engineering studio specialising in spatial computing, AR/XR, and AI for physical infrastructure. With a background spanning building information modelling, computer vision, and enterprise software development, Yifeng leads the studio's technical direction and client delivery across government, university, and infrastructure sectors. DARKSPEDE has delivered platforms for Transport for NSW, the University of Melbourne, RMIT, City of Melbourne, and Grimshaw Architects since its founding in Melbourne, Australia in 2019.
Every project starts with the real-world challenge — how engineers inspect, planners decide, or builders coordinate. We spend time in the field before writing a single line of code.
We design systems that mirror the physical workflow — then improve on it. The best digital tools feel inevitable, not foreign, to the people who use them every day.
Our platforms are built for low-light warehouses, construction sites, and confined spaces — offline-first, hardware-aware, and ruggedized for real-world use.
We embed feedback loops from day one — working alongside engineers, planners, and inspectors throughout development so the final product genuinely fits how they work.
Whether you're planning a digital twin, exploring AR for your operations, or need intelligent 3D systems — let's talk about what's possible.
